SCION.COM'S NEW LOOK
Refreshed graphics and layouts, improved functionality
Scion's consumer website, Scion.com, will receive a redesign that includes updated graphics and layouts, as well as functionality upgrades, in the coming weeks. The site has played a critical role in the growth of the automaker, which aims to bring young consumers to the marque. Its revisal coincides with Scion's five-year anniversary.
When the makeover is complete, visitors will find a fresh cosmetic appeal to the Scion web portal that accurately reflects the groundbreaking brand's matured status. Page backgrounds feature aesthetically pleasing imagery of real-world Scions in action while the new home page, which once invited visitors to "Join the Evolution," pronounces that the Scion nation is "United by Individuality." The facelift is also marked by reformatted and more logical link placement with expanded graphical interfaces.
Along with refreshing the creative, designers have also enhanced the shopping and researching experience at Scion.com. Consumers can take advantage of the site's improved functionality with a new tool called "Wishlist," which allows Scion shoppers to select colors and accessories on the site as they are browsing and save them to a wish list. Once selections are made, guests can launch the "Build Your Scion" tool with the chosen accessories pre-configured.
Other functional improvements include a "quick look" gallery so that users can see vehicle images quickly without having to dive deep into a gallery. A "Tweaks of the Week" section has also been added, where users can check out tricked-out enthusiast vehicles. The layout was redesigned to provide a more intuitive and useful research experience for the Scion consumer.
From day one, Scion's goals have been to bring young consumers to the Toyota family, as well as implement a new business model for selling cars. Scion.com has been an important and integral part of reaching those objectives. The site allows visitors a taste of the personalization and flexibility that Scion offers and also illustrates how Scion enthusiasts have led the way in the automotive customization subculture. Additionally, Scion.com displays the many ways Scion aligns itself with trendsetters and youth culture.
