Scion hosts a new Installation LA exhibit and House Party tour in November
Scion's support of the arts grows in November with the promotion of two very distinctive presentations.

Opening Nov. 21, Scion's Installation L.A. Gallery presents "Euphoria Left The Room," a group exhibition curated by Judith Schwarzbart, curator of the Copenhagen Quadrennial: UTURN, that seeks to question what fragments of avant-garde thinking and visual experimentation are still at work in contemporary art practice.

Scion also heats things up with another stellar line up of the globe's finest DJs for its House Party tour coming through Los Angeles and Austin in November.

Scion's 4,500-square-foot Installation Gallery in Culver City will host "Euphoria Left The Room," which addresses the fate of creative and visionary imagination, elements that through the 20th century were set free through a sense of experimentation demonstrated in Sci-Fi literature and film. Since modernism in an aesthetic sense has faded, "Euphoria Left The Room" explores whether those utopian ideas are really dead or whether a visionary spirit can still be found in contemporary art.

"Euphoria Left The Room" featured artists consist of:
Ann Lislegaard, a Norwegian-born but Copenhagen-based artist, whose work has been exhibited internationally - from London and Seattle, to Tokyo and Los Angeles and many other global locations.

Ferdinand Ahm Krag, a Copenhagen-based artist has been featured in many European shows. Euphoria Left The Room marks his US debut.

Jacob Dahl Jürgensen was born in Denmark but lives and works in London, having received his MA in Fine Art there. He works in sculpture, collage and installation, often referencing the history of modernist art and design, esoterica and popular culture.

Lisa Schmidt-Colinet is an architect based in Vienna. Since 2001 she has been collaborating with Alex Schmoeger on architecture projects, research and exhibitions. Since 2007 she has been a teacher at the Institute for Art and Architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna.

Alex Schmoeger works as practicing architect in Vienna. He has implemented several cultural and housing buildings in Austria and is working on a social housing project in Vienna.

Florian Zeyfang, of Berlin, is an artist, video-maker and Professor for Moving Image at the Academy of Fine Arts in Umeå, Sweden. His work has been exhibited internationally and his videos have appeared in film festivals worldwide.

Maria Loboda was born in Poland and now lives and works in Berlin. Her work brings into play several elements that conjure up and oppose rarely associated fields, such as art and Occult sciences. She is renowned for the practice of setting up knowledge systems and their formalization, assigning them magic incantations or spiritual forces.

Tommy Støckel is a Dane who splits his time between Copenhagen and Berlin and has exhibited internationally. Geometry, scale and perspective are essential to his work, which also reflects his interest in modernism and science fiction novels from the 19th and 20th centuries.

"Euphoria Left The Room" runs from November 21 to December 12 at Scion's Installation L.A. Gallery, 3521 Helms Ave., Culver City, Calif., 90232. An opening reception is set for Saturday, November 21, from 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. The reception is free with complimentary valet parking and an open bar for those who are 21 and up.

Dedicated to fostering independent artistic expression, the Scion Installation L.A. Gallery is a space that allows artists to explore their creative visions. The Scion Installation Gallery hosts art shows and art-related events for cutting-edge artists from across the globe. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and by appointment at (310) 815-8840. For more information, visit www.scion.com/space.

Over November 18 and 19 in L.A. and Austin, South East London import, Plastician, headlines the Scion House Party tour with his filthy dub tunes and flawless mixing. The genre-bending Scuba, who brought dubstep to Berlin with his legendary Sub:stance parties at Berghain, brings his own unique sound to the show.

Next on the bill is Mary Anne Hobbs, the matriarch of the genre, who can be credited for breaking dubstep to the masses with her BBC Radio 1 show "Breezeblock" and two-hour special, "Dubstep Warz." Hobbs will surely keep the dance floor packed after local opening acts 12th Planet and Grommit get audiences on their feet.

Scion House Party events are free and open to the public. However, attendees must RSVP at www.scion.com/houseparty, and early arrival is suggested. Attendees must be 18 or older for the event at the Roxy, and 21 or older for the event at the Beauty Bar. Artist interviews are available upon request.

Scion's House Parties are on the pulse of the U.S. underground dance music movement and deliver an unprecedented club experience for audiences across the country. Scion's free events continue the brand's mission to support innovative artistic talent by presenting cutting-edge lineups pairing international headliners with local heroes.
