CREATIVE CONNECTIONS
Scion fuels self-expression and collaboration with web campaigns on Kongregate and MOG

Scion has partnered with a duo of online communities to provide new avenues for game developers, musicians and artists to create work as part of a team and earn some recognition.

On the indie gaming site Kongregate, Scion is the sole sponsor of Kongregate Collabs, the venue hosting Scion's Artistic Intersection, a contest that recognizes and awards weekly prizes to winning participants who upload the best game entries. Music social networking site MOG will soon present Scion's Dubstep Mixer Fantasy Camp, where five up-and-coming artists get taught by today's hottest Dubstep musicians, and the camp culminates in a battle for the best song and set.

Kongregate Collabs (short for collaborations) features tools that let game artists and musicians link with flash developers to team up on creating games. Each week on Scion's Artistic Intersection, winners are determined by ratings from Kongregate players, and anyone can post their game art and music to get feedback, interaction and collaboration from the Kongregate community.

Kongregate Collabs is an extension of Kongregate's thriving creative community, where seven million gamers log 13 million hours of game-play each month. The launch of Kongregate Collabs is the second in an ongoing promotional partnership with Scion; the first was the Driving Creativity Contest, which was featured last year in Kongregate Labs, another community within the Kongregate site devoted to nurturing the creative talents of aspiring game developers. Scion is the exclusive sponsor of Kongregate Collabs and Artistic Intersection through July 31.

For Scion's Dubstep Mixer Fantasy Camp, MOG and Scion are conducting a search for five unknown, up-and-coming artists in the Dubstep genre, with the five finalists receiving instruction in production, studio techniques and the ins-and-outs of the music industry. In the week following the four-day camp, there will be a contest among participants where the goal is to produce the best song/set, and a panel of camp teachers and industry veterans will judge the final battle. The winning composer gets to host a New Year's Eve party in their hometown, where they will open for one of the top Dubstep artists.

A MOG Dubstep Mixer Fantasy Camp micro-site will feature camp content such as blogs, videos of sessions and streams of music they produce, among other assets.

With thousands of contributions from the 5.5 million monthly visitors and top 300 music blogs that make up its network, MOG generates over 6,000 music blog posts per week, delivering the web's most comprehensive daily music newspaper. Users can find easy, up-to-date information on artists, albums or songs by searching MOG's archive of hundreds of thousands of blog posts. MOG members can also sign up for personalized music recommendations and blog posts and instant updates.
